Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training (300+ Hours)

A three-year, in-depth Iyengar Yoga teacher training for committed practitioners seeking a deeper understanding of practice, philosophy, and teaching. This program supports the steady development of discipline, self-knowledge, and skillful application of yoga over time.

An In-Depth Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training

This Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training is a structured, in-depth program designed for dedicated practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of yoga and, over time, develop the skills required to teach responsibly and with clarity.

The training offers a thorough immersion into asana, pranayama, philosophy, therapeutics, and teaching methodology within the Iyengar system. It is a progressive, three-year process that supports steady development of practice, self-study, and teaching capacity.

Drawing on many years of teaching experience, as well as a background in holistic physiotherapy and Buddhist practice, the course places strong emphasis on working intelligently with the body and mind, cultivating discipline, and developing self-knowledge that informs both personal practice and teaching.

This training is suited to committed students who are ready for a sustained and reflective approach to yoga study.

About the Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training

This teacher training follows the internationally recognised Iyengar Yoga system and its requirements for teacher development. The emphasis is on precision, observation, sequencing, and adaptation, with a strong foundation in anatomy, therapeutics, and philosophy.

The course supports students to:

  • Establish and refine a consistent personal practice
  • Develop a clear understanding of asana and pranayama
  • Learn how to observe bodies and respond skillfully to individual needs
  • Build confidence in teaching through progressive practice and mentoring
  • Study classical yoga philosophy, including the Yoga Sutras and other foundational texts

The training is not a fast-track certification. It is a gradual, disciplined process that allows learning to unfold over time.

Course Structure (2026–2029)

The Iyengar system stipulates that teacher training spans three years and includes the following components:

300 hours of teacher training content with a Level 3 teacher

  • Developing and establishing a personal practice
  • Teaching methodology
  • Therapeutics
  • Pranayama

80 hours of observing and assisting in classes

20 hours of teaching

Philosophy studies, including the Yoga Sutras and other fundamental texts

Assignments (one per term), including class preparation and pose analysis

After completing 200 hours of training, participants may apply for a Certificate of Competence, enabling access to insurance and teaching opportunities at gyms and non-Iyengar yoga schools.
